  • Long pants and long sleeved shirts made of non-synthetic, breathable material (no leggings!). We recommend wearing bootcut jeans, a shirt, and a flannel. Also – just like the shoes, don’t wear nice clothes. You’ll likely be getting dusty and dirty.

Every participant will receive a safety orientation and training in the safe use of tools and equipment featured in the project. Safety is our utmost priority! A preview of our health and safety program can be read here.

Please note that all Government of Alberta COVID-19 measures will be in place for the duration of this project, including proof of vaccination and mask wearing at all times. Sanitizing wipes and liquid will be provided.

Learning Objectives

In our second, group DIY project, The Red Bench members have the opportunity to fabricate their own wall hooks.

The project objective is for participants to gain experience in metalworking, tool use, and safe workshop practices. The project outcome is the fabrication of a wall hook.

We want to show participants that they can weld, work with metal, and build very cool, functional objects.

We hope that participants will grow strong connections with one another while developing their own self confidence and sense of empowerment in a safe, comfortable, and friendly environment ❤️.
